Lex Boothe (she/they): Owner, Director, Producer

Lex is a D.C.-based storyteller and co-lead of a small production shop- Boothe Collaborative, focused on amplifying community voices and documenting the complex social issues we are currently facing as a society. Her focus on community-centered storytelling began at a young age, in large part because of the struggles she faced in childhood around identity and belonging. Her award-winning debut documentary, Mixed Feelings: Growing Up Biracial in America, was her first attempt at exploring the nuances of documentary film with some of the most difficult topics we traverse today around prejudice, supremacy, family  and love.

Currently, the Boothe Collaborative team is in production on two DC-based films. The first project follows the story of a resident-led network in Ward 8 working to impact the economic development of the neighborhood and curb the effects of gentrification with a community-led, bottom-up approach. The second project covers the sudden closure of a long promised grocery-store in the Bellevue neighborhood where residents continue to fight for equitable food access.

In addition to storytelling Lex is a certified integral coach and has leveraged this human-development skill set with clients at the  individual and organizational level. This vocation has been deeply inspiring for her own growth and understanding of the inter- & inner-workings of identity, spirituality, awareness, healing,  power, Love and community.

She is a 2012 UVa graduate and received her masters from the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY in New York City.

Adam Boothe (he/him): Co-owner, Business Manager, AP

Adam is based out of Richmond and serves as the business manager for Boothe Collaborative. With a background that includes stints at technology companies and in the public healthcare space, Adam brings a unique viewpoint to the table. Experiences at tech companies that embraced the ethos of “move fast and break things”, and in public healthcare, with it’s contrasting ethos of avoiding change until necessary, have highlighted many of the challenges at the root of Boothe Collaboratives’ documentary subjects. Issues such as food insecurity, economic and human development, often break down at the intersection of public and private entities with their opposing modus operandi and incentive structures. This perspective helps capture the intricacies of the subjects that Boothe Collaborative studies and elucidates.

Adam is a graduate of the University of Virginia and spent time living overseas during formative years; this has equipped him with a diverse range of viewpoints. As a creative partner, Adam offers a fresh perspective and serves as a valuable sounding board for new ideas within the collaborative's mission of sharing insights into the life and conditions of citizens in Southeast DC.
